A Place to Set Down a Heavy Morning — Somewhere to Put It Down | 1 Hour Singing Bowl & Ambient Drone | 207Hz

Some mornings the day is heavy before you open your eyes. One bowl, struck by a river in Numata, Japan, ringing at its own 207Hz. There is nothing to decide here.

A Place to Set Down a Heavy Morning

Some mornings the day is already heavy when you wake. Nothing has gone wrong. There is just a lot to carry. On mornings like that, even choosing where to begin feels like one more thing.

One bowl by the river

This track was recorded on a riverbank in Numata, Japan. Sitting in the grass, the bowl is struck, left to fade, then struck again — about a hundred and twenty times in a little over four minutes. The sound of the river fills the gaps.

The 207Hz was not chosen. It is simply the note this bowl rings at. Underneath, a low drone holds steady, so the sound never drops out even as each ring fades.

An hour with nothing to decide

There is nothing to do here. Nothing to pick, nothing to finish. When the bowl rings, listen. When it fades, wait. No need to count breaths. As each ring spreads out, the out-breath tends to lengthen on its own.

An hour later, the weight may still be there. But a load you set down for a while is lighter when you lift it again.

There is nothing to decide here.

Give a heavy morning this hour. The day can start after that.
